How Hilary Duff Avoided The Disney Curse

Fans have seen their favorite Disney (and non-Disney) stars get pulled through the wringer after growing up in the industry. While many stars have since turned their lives around, fans saw stars like Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan, to name only a few, go through hell and back after gaining fame at such a young age. Many of these stars have since had some pretty negative things to say about their experience with Disney. Hilary Duff is one of the biggest names to come from Disney, yet she managed to avoid this 'Disney curse.' Gemma Chan To Play Anna May Wong in Upcoming Biopic

Anna May Wong, Hollywood’s first Chinese-American movie star, is receiving her very own biopic. Gemma Chan will portray the late icon and produce the film with Nina Yang Bongiovi.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chan and Bongiovi have joined forces with Working Title Films to develop the movie. “Anna May Wong was a trailblazer, an icon and a woman ahead of her time,” Chan said in a statement. “Her talent and her exploration of her art both in and outside of the U.S. was groundbreaking — and the challenges and prejudice she faced in the early 20th century as an actress speak directly to the conversations and the world we are navigating today.”

Set to take the lead on the screenplay — an adaptation of Graham Russell Gao Hodges’ 2012 biography Anna May Wong: From Laundryman’s Daughter to Hollywood Legend — is Asian-American playwright David Henry Hwang. Wong’s niece, Anna Wong, will also join the team as a consultant.

Jessica Biel is an Axe Murderer in True Crime Series 'Candy' Teaser

"Prior to June 13th, did you like Betty Gore?" Hulu has revealed the first teaser trailer for Candy, a true crime murder mystery series coming to Hulu this summer. True crime is such a popular subgenre they're churning out these kind of stories left and right for all the streaming services to play non-stop, just because audiences love to eat them up. Candy is set in Texas in 1980 and is based on the true story of killer Candy Montgomery and her victim, Betty Gore. Jessica Biel plays Montgomery Candy, who seemingly had it all - a loving husband with a good job, a daughter and a son, a nice house in the brand new suburbs - so why did she kill her friend from church with an ax? Indeed an intriguing question… Co-starring Melanie Lynskey as Betty Gore, with Raúl Esparza, Sharon Conley, Dash McCloud, Aven Lotz, and Antonella Rose. This looks quite chilling, but it doesn't look as sharp as some of these other true crime series.

THE WEEKND WANTS MORE 'THE SIMPSONS' SCREEN TIME AFTER MAKING 'DREAM' CAMEO

Adding to his already blockbuster year, The Weeknd ticked another major achievement off his bucket list this past weekend after making his first appearance in The Simpsons.

The Toronto-bred hitmaker served as the special guest in the season 33 episode “Bart the Cool Kid” that aired on Sunday (March 20), voicing a character named Oriel Hughes who owns the fictional skate brand “Slipreme.” (No prizes for guessing the real-life brand being satirized.)

Touching on the social currency afforded by one’s choice of footwear, the episode finds Bart Simpson suffering humiliation after Homer buys him a pair of fake Slipreme sneakers. However, Bart’s playground status skyrockets after he becomes friends with Hughes and the pair create a new shoe together.
