Regé-Jean Page Quit 'Bridgerton' To Star In Other Projects Instead

Regé-Jean Page starred on the first season of the breakout television series Bridgerton which premiered on Netflix on December 25, 2020. It's been over a year since the first season came out, and now season is finally set to hit Netflix on March 25, 2022. Yet the show's leading man, Regé-Jean Page, will not reprise his role as Duke Simon Basset. The news was controversial in itself since the Duke of Hastings was such a prominent character in the series. Fans felt like Simon Basset was only just getting started, but Regé-Jean had other plans in mind for himself.

Usually, the main character of a show doesn't leave right in the peak of its prime. At the time of its release, Bridgerton broke the record for the biggest original series on Netflix with over 82 million households tuning in. Surely there has to be a valid explanation for why Regé-Jean will no longer star in this hit series. Since Page left the series, the English actor is looking forward to his upcoming projects. Bridgerton skyrocketed his career and opened the door to so many opportunities. However, he will always be our Duke of Hastings.
